Dusty and Ben in Defining their Destiny

Wow! What a fast month!Dusty’s book has been uploaded to the distributors and is starting to go LIVE! (As of 5:30 am Nov 27, I am only waiting on two links to go live!Kobo wins the award for fastest upload. Less than one hour. On a Sunday night! Very impressive. Click the pic below and it’ll take you to the links! This book has been a bit of a struggle to get out there. For one thing, Dusty’s book ended up being about 30,000 words longer than anticipated (Phoebe’s book is only 33K words long in total!). This Masterson is as long as many of the PAVADs and Finleys! Then my wonderful, phenomenal editor and her two little evil genius children came down with COVID. Add in the holidays, the news I need two root canals (oh, how fun!) and a whole host of things…But, I got to reread Ben and Dusty’s book yesterday. I have been so busy lately I had literally forgotten what I had written. And I must have laughed out loud more than two dozen times reading this one. I really enjoyed writing Ben’s character. He turned out a bit differently than I had first imagined. But that is one of the greatest things about writing these books. Since I never use an outline, or know what will happen ahead of time, it’s always a surprise. And rereading my books is one of my greatest enjoyments.

HIS LITTLE SISTER’S BEST FRIEND?

For Ben Tyler, his kid sister’s closest friend Dusty—don’t ever call her by her real name Destiny—Talley is always just around, giving him fits. That hasn’t changed much over the years. Even though Dusty is a full-grown woman now.

full-grown, beautiful, tempting, maddening, desirable woman, fully capable of capturing unsuspecting thriller novelists like Ben with a single smile. Who knew Dusty could smile at a man like that? Could make Ben feel like that?

So, what is a man supposed to do about a woman like her? Especially when that man is on a real deadline now?

Avoidance is probably his best option. But that’s rather hard to do when the wiring in his apartment goes out and Ben is forced to check in at the Talley Inn…Where his Destiny awaits.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW?

She is a Talley of Masterson County. Dusty has always known who she is, where she comes from. So why does she feel so confused now?

Maybe it has to do with what happened to her before? Nearly being murdered eight months earlier had changed her—how could it not have? Now she’s just…confused. About everything, really. Especially life. She’s doing her best to figure things out. But…maybe… well… maybe Dusty really doesn’t know what she wants right now.

AND THEN THERE IS…BEN.

Figuring out her best friend’s annoying older brother does seem like a good place for Dusty to start. There is something different in the way that man is looking at her now. Something…hotter. More dangerous. Shiver-inducing and everything. Something that has her heart racing in a way she never imagined before.

BUT TIME IS RUNNING OUT.

But someone else from the Talley Inn has an even bigger problem. They witnessed something in Masterson County twenty-three years ago, something that put their entire family at risk back then. They’ve been running ever since. When Dusty crosses their path, choices have to be made. Choices that can change everyone’s destiny. And answer questions that have haunted Dusty’s family for decades now…

They know one thing—one wrong move, and Dusty will pay the price.

If Ben doesn’t find her fast, he might just lose the woman he’s destined to be with… forever.

Now, for a few other updates: Seasons #5, a novella taking place just a few weeks before Dusty’s book is also available, in case you missed it. I am also heavily writing Jarrod and Haldyn’s book. I should have it finished within a week. Then it is off to the editor! I am anticipating a mid-to-late January release date. I’ll update again with an exact date.(If you have not yet read Zoey’s book, definitely grab it before grabbing Haldyn’s. There are some events in Zoey’s book mentioned in Haldyn’s. And some side characters are first intro’d in Zoey’s book. Zoey’s book wraps up most (but not all) of the questions about Zoey’s birth family). Powell’s book (most likely) will come after Haldyn’s. I’m just not sure yet based on the timeline of events in Powell’s book and Madison’s. I do know Charlotte’s book will be last in the Enemies miniseries. I am also working on some new things for 2024/2025. And I am working on more PAVAD!
