Character Name Ava McNealy.
Which book/world do you live in? Virtual Rebel.
Tell us about yourself: I’m a sixteen-year-old girl who absolutely loves VR gaming. I’m also pretty good at it. Of course it helps, when it’s basically the only thing to do around here. The Ungulithi, the aliens who rule over Earth, pretty much keep us in a state of lockdown.
What are your greatest strengths and weaknesses? I think my greatest strengths are also my weaknesses. I’m impulsive, which comes in handy in The Haven, the VR program I use. But my impulsiveness doesn’t always work out in the real world.
Name three important people/creatures/institutions in your world (such as lovers, pets, government institutions, leaders, gods etc). My dad is pretty awesome. I mean, I love my whole family, but my dad is pretty important to me. So are my friends, Lucas and Ji Yeon. I don’t have a lot of friends, and they’ve stuck with me through thick and thin. I know I can count on them.
What does ‘heroism’ mean to you? Kicking some bad guy ass and rescuing kittens from trees? I don’t know, I play a lot of hero types in The Haven. They seem to do a lot of that kind of stuff.
What do you think of your ‘creator’? Eh, I’m pretty agnostic as to if that guy exists. If he does, he’s a jerk and should leave me alone.
Give us your favourite piece of advice: Don’t think. Follow your instincts. Sure, it might not work out sometimes. But who cares? Most of my life is in The Haven. If it doesn’t work out, you can always respawn. Right?
