Historathon 4.0

Yes, I still have two books from previous Historathons to finish. But we are well into November, so it is time to roll those into my current goal of reading at least three books for Historathon 4.0.

That link above takes you to the announcement video of one of the three hosts. You can continue on to the other two announcement videos from there. Each host provides three prompts to the readathon. While participation requires only reading one book of historical fiction, if you'd like an additional challenge, you can read historical fiction books for at least one of each host's prompts. There is also a group read, Crow Mary, which you can use for one of the prompts as well.

Gloria:
167. Set in a place you've visited or want to visit - The Killing Code
71. A 5-star prediction - Murder Road
160. Based on a true story - Beheld

Amanda:
64. Book with a color in the title - Lavender House
157. Book with three words in the title - The Alice Network
Book with the word "Book" in the title - Queen Victoria’s Book of Spells: An Anthology of Gaslamp Fantasy - The Book of Thorns

Lindsey:
159. By a favorite author - Blossom Culp and the Sleep of Death
33. Set during your favorite time period - To Shape a Dragon's Breath
156. Recommended by a favorite person/source - A Gentleman in Moscow

I'm going to shoot for all nine of these, and I will update this post at the end of the month. If (when) I don't finish all nine in November, I will roll them over into my ongoing Historathon adventure.

Stina I finished five books that fit the prompts, and I also listened to From Below for the Australian Readathon. So that leaves four prompts plus Crow Mary to finish off before next year's Historathon.

Stina I have decided that my favorite time period for historical fiction is Steampunk Victorian.

Stina Too bad Murder Road did not live up to its five-star prediction. :-/

Now that I can't use The Yellow Bird Sings for the "color in the title" prompt, I need to read it, Crow Mary, and a "book" book before November. Seems do-able.

Stina It may have been do-able, but I did not do it. And then the readathon scene for historical fiction got complicated.

In June, another readathon, the Historical Fiction Readathon, happened. It had a 3x3 bingo board. I completed a bingo and two more prompts in June, then finished three more spaces in July, September, and November.

Then in November, Historathon was back with a 3x3 bingo board plus a group read. I couldn't print the board, so I didn't pay any attention to forming a bingo and read three books covering four prompts. Then in December I read two more books for two more prompts.

So I am closing out this thread, and rolling everything into a post with details of 2024 and what's left to roll over to 2025.
