Halloween adventures at Fitger’s Bookstore in Duluth.

On the first Saturday of October, I was at Fitger’s Bookstore. As typical, I arrived an hour early to get everything set up. I made one last trip to the vehicle to bring in a poster. I bent down by the side of my SUV to pick it up and unbeknownst to me, the tailgate started dropping down. When I glanced up the corner cut into my forehead tearing out a chunk. I’ve been on a blood thinner, since my heart attack two years ago, so blood poured down my face.

I remembered on the way in that there was an Essentia Clinic, right across the street from Fitger’s so I jogged over. Unfortunately, the street level clinic is closed on weekends. The hospital is on top of the hill, so I jogged up 8 flights of stairs, holding bloody Kleenexes to my forehead. 
The Essentia Hospital staff were amazing. They quickly realized it couldn’t be stitched so they created an antibiotic patch to cover the wound.  They carefully cleaned the blood off my face so I could return and sign books. The staff were amazing, and I am thankful! It’s a reminder that there are some great professionals out there and I am grateful!

After the events outlined below I’m taking a break to finish my next book.

Frank will share the amazing stories of victim survival that led to the resolution of this true crime thriller. Frank will give a live demonstration of a lie detector test (volunteer a friend). Frank will be at the library from 9:00 a.m. to noon answering questions on his work, signing and selling his books and discussing the latest forensic tools. The Pierz Library is located at 117 Main Street South Pierz, Minnesota, 56364.  This is as close as you can get to hear the story from the community it occurs in. 


​Saturday, October 21, 2023, Frank Weber will be speaking at the Lakes Area Writers Alliance Fall Conference.  The LAWA conference will be held at the Arrowwood Lodge in Baxter, Minnesota. The conference runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Frank will be speaking at 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. He will then answer questions on a panel at 3:00 p.m. The Arrowwood Lodge is located at 6967 Lake Forest Road, Baxter, Minnesota, 56425.
