Monthly Theme 4: Entries & Winner

REVIEWSDAY NEWSDAYStories from August & September celebrating “Vacation” and “Back to School”Photo by Logan Isbell on Unsplash

As I mentioned in the previous newsletter, the Reviewsday Tuesday Monthly Theme for August 2023 was “Vacation,” but — perhaps due to the summer holiday itself — we had a bit of a slow month. So this month I’ve decided to pool the August and September entries into one highlights post featuring both stories celebrating “Vacation” from August and those from the September 2023 theme, “Back to School.”

The winner of September’s Monthly Theme Contest will be announced at the bottom of this post, but first, let’s review all the wonderful entries from August and September. I hope you’ll join me in reading, clapping for, and commenting on the reviews below!

(Note: Yes, I’ve included my own stories in this wrap-up, but don’t worry, I didn’t consider myself in the running for the prize! Can you imagine?)

🖊️🚌⭐🥇🏆The Winner 🏆🥇⭐🚌🖊️

The winner this month, appropriately, is Monica Ray, M.Ed, MS, for her review of Netflix’s “Addams Family” show, Wednesday. This review was expertly crafted to draw you into a narrative of what Monica’s experience was like watching this show — from it being recommended by a Covid-conscious hairdresser, to spending quality time with her teen daughter — and reviewed Wednesday in a way that felt downright personal, in addition to being well-written, informative, and funny.

I appreciated Monica’s perspective as a parent and a teacher sharing her insight into the show’s depiction of a private school system — albeit, one for supernaturally-inclined teens — and what her daughter got out of the show.

Congratulations Monica! Reach out to me in a private note with your PayPal address to arrange payment.
