Why is it so hard to create a title for our WIP? I think it has something to do with our desires to capture the essence of our story in a short, concise, poetic way and never feeling fully able to achieve that. After all, we have slogged long hours and poured our heart and soul into our work. And do us authors ever feel like we’ve done it justice???
Titling your book baby is just as hard as naming a real one.

Here are my top tips for titling your work:
Don’t title your WIP until you have finished writing it. Some titles come to us by accident as we are writing. Others need that little stewing time. Don’t rush the process.Get an outside opinion. What do your beta readers think of your title. Do you have a writing group you could run a few potential ideas by?Research popular titles in your genre. This is a very good idea from a marketing stance. Plus, readers in certain genres know what to expect from particular book covers, titles, and more.Trust your gut. No-one knows your story better than you. Do you think you’ve found the winning title? Or does something not sit right with you? Either way, listen to your instinct.
