Stormy

It still feels like summer! Could we have some crisp, cool air, please? Especially at night for sleeping?

The sky was such a weird shade of pink and green this morning.

Today’s Process Muse is about how to feed your work. You can read it here.

We have two serial episodes going live today.

ANGEL HUNT:

Episode 67: Randolph Neville’s Dilemma

The exhaustion of being revered.

DEADLY DRAMATICS:

Episode 17: Pressure at the Office

Back at the temp job, Nina’s feeling the pressure from all sides.

Yesterday was a struggle. I got the laundry done. I got a bunch of admin done. Admin always takes so much damn longer than I expect. Did the social media rounds for Legerdemain. Changed out the curtain in my bedroom from the summer roses sheers to a slightly darker sheer of a sky and clouds.

Got an episode and a half of Legerdemain written, and it took time, because I had to stop and do some worldbuilding that I thought I’d done, but turns out I hadn’t. I’d pushed it off until later, and “later” became “now.” This is why I do not advocate putting in placeholders as one writes; it always comes back to bite you in the butt.

Found out the new COVID boosters are available, so booked our shots together for next Monday afternoon. Hopefully, it won’t take me down for a week, like the previous shots have. This is shot #6 for us.

Hopefully, we won’t have to pay $130/pop. I’m hoping our insurance covers them. Or at least some of the cost.

I’m glad to get it done before the residency and before I have to serve jury duty. And I have some flexibility next week, so if I am down for a few days, it won’t be a disaster.

My mom just gets a little sleepy and her arm is sore for a day or so. I’ve been full out fever/chills/aches/headache for every shot. But it beats the alternative.

I do get sick of ten to twelve pages of the same paperwork they already have every time I book a shot. But at least we get them together. One trip.

I’m hoping Tuesday will be my only bad day.

I put together all the 25 pieces for Llewellyn into the single document, per my editor’s instructions, and added the spell icons and my bio. I will do a final proofread this morning and send it off. I had to throw out one spell, because I realized it was too similar to one I did a few years ago. But I came up with something better (in spite of the time to research, and the cuts/tweaks I had to make because it’s about fighting injustice).

I turned around two small client projects. Four more came in for this week, so I’ll have a little bit of income in this pay period, plus the review money (once I finish this last book, write the review, and invoice for the batch). I’ve been considering how I want to change the type of independent contract work over the winter months, and sending LOIs aimed in that direction, at least from November through March, and then readjust next spring and summer, depending on if/when any of the residency applications or play submissions hit the mark.

I did some work on the program and will finish it today to send off for proofing.

There’s still a good bit of flooding and aftermath of flooding in the eastern part of the state, so I’m glad we didn’t attempt a storage run this weekend. Looks like the Cape will be hammered by the hurricane this weekend, so no trip then, either. I did not realize how bad the storms were in that direction this past weekend, but the photos are disturbing.

We’ll see how next week shakes out, between booster shots and weather.

At least working remotely means I can often get something done, even if I can barely sit up, because the bed’s only a few feet away from my desk.

On today’s agenda: drafting an episode of Legerdemain, final proof of the Llewellyn articles and off to the editor, get my hair cut, finish the reading program, two small client projects, tarot circle.

Somewhere in there, I have to figure out what I’m going to wear to tomorrow’s reading, and also rehearse the poem. I think I will dress in colors similar to the print with which my poem is paired.

Off to hit the page, and then head to Williamstown to get my hair tidied up. Although it hasn’t gotten back to pandemic hair, it’s untidy in a way that doesn’t suit the messy bob look.

Have a good one.
