Getting Into the Swing of Things

My parents were war babies, as in World War II. They had me well into their thirties, as a result I had significantly older parents than most of my peers. Where theirs were born firmly in the 1950s, my parents were born in 1938 and 1940. This fact has had a profound impact on the music I was exposed to growing up.

My peers parents were all firmly into Motown or 1960s folk and rock. My parents were into Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Patsy Cline, Brenda Lee, the Italian tenors like Mario L...
