It’s all about process

Process is everything in art, and every artist has their own. I’ve gotten into a structure with my comic where I sketch out panels in my sketchbook, then do a panel layout on 11 x 17 sketch paper, and then draw the final version on Bristol board. I paint on top of the line art on the Bristol. 

I’m considering scanning the line art and then painting over a print out of that. But… I do like having all the art on one sheet. The handmade nature of this project is a big attraction to me. But doing it this way is pretty unforgiving. Usually, I just live with my fuck ups. But I’m hoping doing it like this ultimately improves my skill. 

Hand lettering though? I don’t know, man. But I admit, it’s getting more enticing.
