“It’s you.”
A wrinkle forms between her brows. “What’s me?” “We won tonight. You came to the game, and we won.” She scoffs. “That’s ridiculous.”
“We won,” I repeat. “We won in Colorado, and you were there. We won in St. Louis the night after I saw you last. And tonight, we won, and I scored. I haven’t scored all season. In fact, I haven’t scored since February. But tonight, you were there, and I scored.”
“I...” Her words fade on her tongue as she stares up at me, her hazel eyes bouncing back and forth between mine. After several silent seconds, she says, “I was there tonight.”
I nod, leaning down and pressing a kiss to the corner of her mouth. “You were there.”
“And you scored.”
“I scored.” I place another kiss on the other side. “Remember when you asked me if I was superstitious? Back on the plane?”
She nods, her body trembling beneath me as I trace a path down her side. “I remember.”
“I am, Auden. I’m superstitious as hell, and right now, it seems like you might be my good luck charm.”
