Colin Preston Rocked And Rolled On List Of Top Ten Books For Book Clubs
Five Alarm Book Reviews
Top Ten Books That Would Make Great Club Picks
There are a lot of books that I recommend as I review them as book club reads. These are some of my favorites. I tried to pick books that are worthy of deeper discussion rather than books that are necessarily popular or well liked, although many of these are well read and loved by many.
Cane River by Lalita Tademy – Three generations of woman through the slavery to freedom, based on Tademy’s geneology.
All These Things I’ve Done by Gabrielle Zevin – Dystopian with plenty of opportunity for society study discussion for young adults.
Keep Sweet by Michele Dominguez Greene – This will offer discussion topics regarding family dynamics and the not so obvious abuse that is still exhistent in hidden society.
Unwind (Unwind Trilogy #1) by Neal Shusterman – This book takes the reader on a wild ride. Set post civil war, pro choice vs. pro life and the results of the odd treaty agreement.
Spin the Plate by Donna Anastasi – Great discussion opportunities around the not so average behavior of a person, post years of abuse, and why we judge that behavior as a society.
The Battle for Tomorrow by Dr. Stuart Jean Bramhall – Fiction that is great for women’s studies.
Colin Preston Rocked and Rolled by Bert Murray – This is not such an obvious choice, but I think that this will open discussion around college life, the 80′s, from the rare perspective of a male MC.
Shame the Devil by Debra Brenegan – This is one of those books that is based on real life events and should be a part of woman’s studies 101.
Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton – A classic with elements of codependency, hardship and unbridled forbidden love.
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers – This story is the prime example for unconditional love, forgiveness and how it can change lives.
