For those funny people who keep arguing about #LordElgin violently stripping the marbles from the building, I invite them to consider the position of the frieze within the cellar of the #Parthenon.

You see that big empty space that was once occupied by the walls of the cellar, on top of which rested the blocks of the frieze? Well, they were gone after the 1687 explosion. At the level of the frieze, 90% of that support is simply NOT THERE.

Are you now more convinced that the majority of the frieze was lying on the ground, and NOT taken away from the building as alleged by repatriationist propaganda?
