Word of the Week #376:

Precipice

Imagine you’re on a cliff.

If you peer past the stone slab under your feet, you can just look into the ravine.

The breeze blowing into your back gently nudges you ever so closer to the edge.

You take a step forward.

You know there is no more stone pressing into your feet anymore.

You know you have stepped past the edge.

You know exactly what awaits you.

And yet, there is a moment—just the tiniest of moments—when nothing happens.

Your head feels faint.

Your arms go limp.

You remain immobilised in the air.

And nothing happens.

Time stands still.

So do you…

Now imagine feeling that constantly for six months.

That.
