Not All Supermen Interview With Sara Century, Up Now On Queer Spec!

I got to chat with the excellent and delightful Sara Century from the Bitches on Comics podcast recently, and the episode is up now on the Queer Spec Patreon, free for anyone to listen! Usually you have to be a paying supporter to get access to a Patreon, but as a nice treat you can check this one out for nothing at all.

It was a great chat, one of those ones where the interviewer rolls in with no specific notes, just a “let’s talk about anything and everything” vibe and you end up having a fun, real conversation. Those are my favourite kinds of interviews, and I certainly had a wonderful time talking with Sara about all of my books, and comics in general. The interview is ostensibly about Not All Supermen, but we talk about my Wonder Woman, Lois Lane, and Catwoman work a bunch as well. Especially about Lois Lane, who Sara is a big fan of (as everyone should be; we even got into the classic “Lois Lane, Girl Reporter” strips, like when Lois took out some bad guys with watermelons, as shown above). We touched on lots of different eras and characters, the trials and tribulations female characters face in the superhero genre, and the stories we love that were able to break free of the genre’s usual tropes.

The conversation was such a good time that we’re scheduled to talk again this summer and pick up where we left off! So look forward to part two as well, which will get into Betty and Veronica more, and probably several other fun topics. For now, though, you can enjoy this chat, for free.
