On April 20, 2012, the Crime Writers of Canada announced the finalists for the 29th annual Arthur Ellis Awards, which celebrate the best in crime writing of the past year.
Ian Hamilton was named as a finalist in the Best First Novel category for The Water Rat of Wanchai. Other finalists include Norm Foster for Watching Jeopardy; Fraser Nixon for The Man Who Killed; Sean Slater for The Survivor; and Roger White for Tight Corner.
The nominees for Best Novel are Alan Bradley for I Am Half-Sick of Shadows; William Deverell for I’ll See You in My Dreams; Louise Penny for A Trick of the Light; Peter Robinson for Before the Poison; and Robert Rotenberg for The Guilty Plea.
The winners will be announced on May 31 at a gala ceremony in Toronto.
