“Dual Memory” is an Amazon Editor’s Pick for Best Science Fiction and Fantasy for May

Amazon likes my book! Dual Memory is one of the Best Books of the Month: Science Fiction & Fantasy @ Amazon.com.

If you order the dead tree book from Volumes Bookcafé, I can autograph it for you. The book is available May 16, and there will be a launch party here in Chicago at Volumes that evening.

You can also buy it from your own friendly neighborhood bookstore and all major retailers. Links are here where it says “Buy Now.”

You can read the first chapter at the publisher’s website.

Peter Tillman Whoa! Good news, & of course it's already on my TBR . . . 😇

Quote of the day:
"There is a technical, literary term for those who mistake the opinions and beliefs of characters in a novel for those of the author. That term is 'idiot'." —Larry Niven

Sue Burke Thank you!

Another quote:
"It is a cardinal sin to bore the reader." -- Larry Niven

I have this one as
"It's a sin to waste the reader's time"
Snappier!

Sue, have you read the Benford/Niven "Bowl of Heaven" trilogy, an update of RINGWORLD, sorta kinda, but with better physics. Here's my paean to #3: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Remarkable books. #3 is the best, and would be a reasonable place to start.

Sue Burke Wow! That sound like a fun book. Another thing on the TBR pile.
Thanks for the recommendation.

Hope you like it! I did.
I was inspired to reread Niven's RINGWORLD after reading this one. It held up pretty well. Book of its time, of course. And famously, the Ringworld would be unstable! Which he addressed in the sequel, which was pretty good too. Harloprillar, the VERY long-lived Spacer crew-woman, was a truly great character. Even if Niven made her a ship's whore! It was an honorable profession, she was careful to point out. They had a training academy, and a Guild! She was very, very good at her job. Not quite Human, but close. . . And VERY odd, after well over two millennia, stranded with her ship on the fallen Ringworld. Niven had a real knack for that sort of thing. I was a total Known Space fanboy back then!

Peter Tillman The first Niven quote above is one he came up with, if memory serves, as a riposte to critics of his over-sexed hero in RINGWORLD. Louis Wu! And his merry crew! His notorious Tasp. And the Puppeteer's use of same. Among their many, many manipulations of other races in Known Space, that might be threats to their Great Migration. They even tamed the Kzinti!
Great Stuff: en.wikipedia.org[slash]wiki[slash]Known_Space
en.wikipedia.org[slash]wiki/List_of_Known_Space_characters
His Aliens! The bandersnatchi! The Jotoki!
Like I said, a real knack for that stuff. Total Mind Candy.

Peter Tillman Grr. "For protection of our readers." Bah. Peasants!

Sue Burke What they mean is "to frustrate spammers," and spammers embedding dishonest links in comments are a real problem. I get them on my blogs.

I just marked Glorious as "want to read" here at Goodreads because I will consult that list when it's time for the next book.

Thanks again!

Fair enough. Just ... frustrating!

Sue Burke This is why we can't have nice things: assholes.
