A modern day author

One would think that being a modern day author is infinitely easier than it has been for the past centuries.
No need to save money for ink and paper.
No vast amount of dictionaries or volumes on synonyms.
Worldly knowledge at the tips of our cursor.

And it is true, that in the 21 century women do not need to write under the disguise of a men's name anymore.
We do not have to carry our manuscripts through mud and snow to post them to far away publishers.

But one forgets that a modern day author is not simply an author.
For Jane Austen may have paved a path, it is not as smooth as hoped.

These days, it is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single writer in possession of a good manuscript, must be a tiktokker.
