Determining Right from Wrong - Fact from Fiction

There are five major religions/spiritual philosophies in the world today: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism. Each is absolutely certain, through prayer, meditation, and/or Divine Revelation, that the other four got it wrong.

There are more than 750 formally recognized demonitations and sects within Christianity alone. Each is absolutely certain, through prayer, meditation, and Divine Revelation that all the others got it wrong.

Most business courses include the study of statistical analysis. One of the basic tenets of that discipline declares that if each member within an organization or group firmly believes that all the others are wrong regarding any subject, it is likely that everyone is wrong.

Wanting something to be the truth does not make it true. Believing something to be reality does not make it real.

Would it not be better to accept the world that exists and strive to continuously improve it than to waste precious time and resouces seeking access to a non-existent alternative?

Robert Drews Hi Jim. I totally agree with the need for each of us to strive for improving the world, or at least our corner of it, and also as part of that it is my principle to not engage in the "my God is better than your God" merry-go-round and instead be faithful to the one I believe in.

Cheers!

Bob

Jim Vuksic Bob,

Thank you for taking the time to express your opinion of the blog post. It is truly appreciated.

Regardless of one's beliefs, the important thing is that one truly does believe and lives their life accordingly.

Your personal decision to refuse to participate in the constant tit for tat debate regarding whose personal beliefs are true and which are not should be adopted by all. The world would definitely be a better place.

Hope Schiller IT IS ALL THE SAME GOD. I absolutely agree with all your thoughts.

There is nothing to argue about. It's all about love. Every single religion supports doing everything with love.

If everyone can just agree on that, oh, what a world it would be.

Hope,

Thank you for taking the time to view the blog post and express your personal opinion.

Your reference to love being the key ingredient of most religious beliefs supports the many quotes attributed to Jesus within the four Gospels of the New Testament, especially his admonition to love God with your whole heart, soul, and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself.. (Matthew 37-39).

Robert,

Your comment reminded me of a close friend's quirky habit of always wearing a unique charm bracelet. Attached were several small replications of a crucifix, cross, Bible, Quran, Buddah, Star of David, and Book of Mormon. To this day, he refuses to reveal which belief he personally adheres to.

Thank you for posting a comment on the blog post. Very much appreciated.

Christine,

I appreciate the compliment; especially coming from you, one of the first followers of the blog since the very first post on Nov. 18, 2013.

I hope all is well with you, my favorite Canadian.
