Fiction, as a genre, enhances imagination. That is the reason book lovers end up discontent with movie adaptations of books because this is not how you imagined it.Romance helps grow our understanding of other people. It encourages empathy.Because it’s the most popular genre worldwide, that’s why.Because they’re written for women by women (it’s right 90% of the time), everything centered on a woman. And I am a woman.Because e-readers are here, and so are audiobooks, and I read the Fifty Shades trilogy on my Kindle.
