Jeff’s expertise is chess, and he started off teaching the game to kids at summer camps. He also partnered with local charities to host tournaments in his area.

People started asking him to coach them, and he built an email list of potential students 

At first he was mainly doing in-person lessons but moved more to online lessons – via EliteChess.net – once the pandemic hit.

Now he does a mix of online and offline teaching, has hired several coaches to help with the workload, and “he’s now making more money from EliteChess.net than he is from his day job, so he may go full-time in the near future.”
