Hello, is anybody out there?

Once upon a time there was a struggling, penniless father of two little munchkins. He decided one day to heap more stress, pain and anxiety upon his world by becoming a self-published author. So, he penned a trilogy of books just for the teenagers they would become. Central were two 15 year old heroes they would identify with. And they would display attributes which would hopefully inspire his offspring in life (courage, honesty, loyalty, doing what is right...). The first books were inscribed as a gift for each and they would be tiny parts of their father they would always have, long after he was gone. The Jake West Trilogy was the result and his work was done.

Or so he thought... For our intrepid writer was not content with years of marketing, radio interviews, book signings and door upon door being closed in his face... Oh no. A decade or so later the urge to write returned again. Only this time, he decided to pen a novel just for himself. Pure self-indulgence. An action thriller with a fast-paced storyline and a female anti-hero who would be as strong as they come, and seriously kick ass. Being a Reacher fan it would have that feel about it and it would link to one of his interests; WW2 and the heroines of S.O.E. whom he so admired... A Child of Szabo was soon born.

Now, he is still struggling. He is still penniless. His calls for help have been in vain and he feels as lonely as he ever has (the writers among you will understand). But the fire in his belly has returned. The battle is afoot once again. Time to stand and fight. For this literary warrior will not countenance the taking of one single step backwards...
