Update

It's been almost five years since my last blog update... far too long. It may not come as a surprise that my daughter is close to turning five. While I am reluctant to blame anything on the perfection that is my daughter, it's the best excuse I have for not doing more writing during this time. I guess I could also blame my career and the pile of rejections I have received, but no one wants to listen to that!

Although I have been collecting ideas that have been percolating during the last five years, and even had some false starts, I have completed my first short story in some time: A Completely Fictitious Short Story and am almost finished with another short story that I am writing for an anthology on artificial intelligence/automation. I expect to have this story done by the deadline for the anthology which is the end of February.

A Completely Fictitious Short Story is my seventh short story (a couple are a bit longer than short stories - one of them is pushing the upper bounds of a novelette, very close to a novella). I'm hoping to write at least a short story a month this year which would put my collected short stories at about eighteen. I feel that would be a sufficient number of stories that I would be able to cut some of them and still have a good number to self publish a collection of them (unless any publishers are reading this and want in on the action!)

I'll keep submitting my stories for publication, so hopefully you'll be able to read some of them sooner rather than later. Worse case scenario though - look out for my collection of short stories either later this year or early next year!
