ChatGPT will get students banned? That’s a new one. 🙄"
Actually it isn't. There is a LOT of concern about students using it to "write" their essays for them. They already buy them, share them, simply cut and paste. Plagiarism and academic dishonesty is taken very seriously. Stike one - zero on an assignment; strike two, zero in a course; strike three - buh-bye to your degree.

Let's take it one step further and sell Michael Dorn on the idea of performing the voice translate; and Cate Blanchett for the latter mentioned Sindarin.
...and Wil Crusher bowling shirts for every one?! Ok, yea, I heard it. I went too far.

As the wife of a prof, I can tell you my husband is thankful (so far) he teaches IT, as there are always issues with plagiarism but with code he is still able to track down and identify the original source of the code. If his students wrote papers, ChatGPT would make his job a nightmare, and the faculty at his college believe there is legitimate reason for major concern. And it will happen. People cheat. And the ones that get caught will pay a higher price than they expect. There is zero tolerance at the college level, and any of his first year students who get caught are shocked when the F appears on their transcripts and they weren’t given a dozen chances to fix it. Cheat twice and you’re out. Lisa’s point is quite valid.
