Computer meltdown

Well, it was a false dawn...

My old Dell laptop, which suffered a malware attack a couple of weeks ago, finally gave up the ghost.

I went to turn it on a couple of days ago and all I got was a black screen.

So I went and splurged on a new one- I don't mind shelling out because basically my life is on a laptop these days- skyping, banking, emailing, oh, and writing, of course!

When I can't get on a computer I get mild panic attacks and start to pace the room- sad in a way but that's how it is!

Currently purring over my new acquistion-it's a thing of beauty!

And again, don't keep putting it off-back up, either on an external hard drive or email or preferably both!

Terri I keep putting it off. I write too and I always back that up. Everything else, photos etc...meh..too lazy.

Love a new laptop. I am jealous!

M.D. Eyre That was my first-and hopefully last- virus attack.

Got this new one for the equivilent of 400GBP which, when I consider how much my first laptop cost me 12 years ago, was a bargain.

The backing up is a pain- I kept putting it off because you accumulate so much stuff on these things.

Anyway on my new Dell I've installed AVG and MaCaffee anti-virus software- it's like Uhtred's fortress at Bebbanburg!

Terri hahaha. :D Don't forget your email washer and your spam detector....eg spyware blaster.

M.D. Eyre Is that the name of the software Terri- spyware blaster? Can you download it?

message 5: by Terri (new)

Terri yes. Free to download. Very good program. If you Google Spyware Blaster you'll see it and be able to read reviews on it. Good for Spyware repulsion. keep the database updated.

Ad Aware is a good one for detecting malware. :) Not to make you paranoid or anything. lol

Terri Spyware Blaster also offers you this..
Users can also create a system snapshot for PC recovery in case of a devastating attack.

Here's a review on download.com
SpywareBlaster - Download.com http://download.cnet.com/SpywareBlast...

Terri Actually. Someone burned hard by a malware attack probably doesn't need to be clicking on links. hahaha.

if you want..google Spyware Blaster, in the results you'll find the Download.com review to go to.

One of the great things about Spyware Blaster is its user friendly interface. Any mug can understand it..even..maybe..my parents???? if they wanted to.

M.D. Eyre I'm already paranoid so no probs there!
Thanks I'll get those.
I've got a feeling the virus came from something on twitter but I'm not sure- that'll teach me to be trendy!

Terri lol. With your anti virus double up, you probably don't need a malware program running as well in Ad Aware.
I'd ditch the Ad Aware idea I gave you. But Spyware Blaster is excellent, especially if you use Internet Explorer.

M.D. Eyre Yes do use Explorer- right, getting that.
