Informalities: new wrinkles
As I've been prepping for the first Informality release, a couple of things have changed:
First, ALL Informalities will be (starting in 2023) short/micro fictions of 100-250 words – though I wouldn't discount the possibility that short, one-page comics might emerge as well; if I need more space than that, I'll release them as something else (either standalone or as part of the zine).
And finally, instead of releasing the full Informality early to newsletter subs the Sunday before release, I'll be sharing the rough draft / handwritten chicken scratches, which will be fully formed – or as fully formed as these will get – for wide release on Wednesdays.
So, tomorrow’s thing won’t be an Informality, but will, nonetheless, be published tomorrow. Will work on next week’s piece tomorrow and Saturday, releasing a preview of the chicken scratch on Sunday to newsletter subs and then wide here next Wednesday.
General principle here is to apply the Attendance Card drawing ethos (let go of perfectionism, put something raw and of yourself into the world on a truncated time frame) to my fiction writing and hopefully expand my thinking and abilities – the implication of “The Informalities” title will, I think, go a long way towards making part of my brain recognize that these are *designed* to be imperfect and unfinished and raw – and, you know, publish something of moderate entertainment / WTF-is-that value to you.
