Brown Hill is a bit of a hidden gem in Central Mass. It’s part of the Wachusett Meadows property managed by Mass Audubon. I’ve only ever accessed it from the Dickens Trail, which is the same trailhead for the Harrington Trail up Mount Wachusett. It’s a flat, easy, hike for most of the way except for some incremental elevation gain.

JS and I followed the Midstate Trail through beautiful forests and old remnants of farmland. There aren’t many views on the summit, but it is a big open field. You can see a little bit over the tree canopy.

To get back to where we came from, you can make a loop going over the summit and then loop back around to Chapman.

I very much enjoy this trail system and it’s definitely worth visiting if you’re a local to Central Mass.
