After all, if I told you I'm a demon-alien mutant hybrid named Mercurion hailing from the planetary star-system X963 and possess Prof-X style psychic powers and Dr Strange level spell-crafting prowess, would you believe me?
Hiding in plain sight may be some shadow government's core agenda so that their super-powered 'agents' can go about completing missions in the real world, and perhaps catch a movie based on them during weekends. They could also be having a laugh during secret social get-togethers about how some studios on the program payroll portrayed them on screen.
