Camel Hill

A focus on the mysterious animal-like hill features of Azerbaijan. This zoomorphic hill formation has scree deposits indicating prehistoric enhancement of its features. Nearby are ancient graves and signs of settlement. The hill is one of several in Azerbaijan that appears to have animal like features indicating that zoomorphism could have been a common animistic belief system in the megalithic period. Several graves or burial mounds are in the vicinity of Camel Rock, indicating the site may have been held as sacred down through millenia. The neck of the beast appears to have been quarried to enhance its features.
