November 22, 2022: Further Horrors to Contemplate!
Allegoria (2021)
A group of artists’ lives become unwittingly entangled as their obsessions and insecurities manifest monsters, demons, and death.
My thoughts: A collection of horror vignettes that skips over character, exposition, and plot and goes straight for the scares – and some surprising reflections on the nature of art.

A Dark Song (2016)
A determined young woman and a damaged occultist risk their lives and souls to perform a dangerous ritual that will grant them what they want.
My thoughts: At the 47 minute mark, one of the character says “But nothing’s happened”. When things ultimately do, it’s so dark it’s hard to tell. A slow burn that simply peters out.

Diabolique/Les Diaboliques (1955)
The wife and mistress of a loathed school principal plan to murder him with what they believe is the perfect alibi.
My thoughts: 67 years later and still as engaging and suspenseful as ever, up until it’s somewhat preposterous ending.
