I am keenly aware that the UK education disaster of 1965 played out very differently in Scotland. I am also aware that Northern Ireland's grammar schools were spared, though like other surviving grammars in England they were left to operate a comprehensive curriculum and allowed to take examinations designed for comprehensive schools, which gravely lowered all standards.
