A couple of months ago I sent in an application to
Mermaid Cottages, Tybee Island, Georgia. They were offering free visits to writers in exchange for a short story set on Tybee Island, preferably in the writer's assigned cottage. I've been here for two days and I'm loving it. And I'm dreading going home. I have to make this a yearly thing regardless of how it comes about. Meaning I'm going to start saving for next year. Maybe open a savings account just for next year's trip.
I've been obsessed with Georgia for years, and especially obsessed with the Savannah area. I've talked of moving here. I doubt that will ever happen, but I want to start visiting on a yearly basis. This is my 5th time to the area, and it always feels a bit like coming home.
I had a good idea for a short story, but it was horror and I didn't feel that would be a good advertisement for Mermaid Cottages, so I'm working on a fantasy.
