From Scratch
Hello, awesome nerds, happy Thursday everyone and welcome back to a book-to-movie-adaptation post.
October has been the month with the most movies and shows for me so far. I finished watching the first season of House of the Dragon (which was utterly EPIC), finished the sixth and final season of Chesapeake Shores, watched Luckiest Girl Alive, The School for Good and Evil AND I watched From Scratch; a Netflix mini series which, if you’re feeling kind of don’t, I don’t recommend you watch it. At least until you feel happier again.
From Scratch is loosely based on the book From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home, and if I cried that hard while watching the show, I cannot possibly imagine what could happen if I also read the book.

In the Sicilian countryside, she discovers the healing gifts of simple fresh food, the embrace of a close knit community, and timeless traditions and wisdom that light a path forward. All along the way she reflects on her and Saro’s incredible romance—an indelible love story that leaps off the pages.
In Sicily, it is said that every story begins with a marriage or a death—in Tembi Locke’s case, it is both. Her story is about loss, but it’s really about love found. Her story is about travel, but it’s really about finding a home. It is about food, but it’s really about chasing flavor as an act of remembrance. The names of the characters are completely different and it seems as if the book narrates the story in a slightly different way than the Netflix series but, if you have tissues to waste, I highly suggest you give this one a go.
I don’t know if I was already feeling that blue or if the show affected my mood somehow, but despite the fact that it’s a hard topic, dealing with cancer (that piece of sh*% for a disease), From Scratch reminds us all that life is a gift. It’s too precious to be anything but appreciated.
