That sentiment is only partially correct, and it causes more harm than good.

The reality is that growth often requires discomfort, not pain. Discomfort means you are actively stretching beyond your current level of comfort, ability, or area of familiarity.

Discomfort does NOT mean you have to arduously torture yourself to reach your next level of success.
