Horror reads for October

Brian has survived for ten years beyond the end of the world, but he's not sure why. He's not even sure if he cares anymore. When the dead began strolling around and eating people, society was certain to collapse. Brian never realized how lonely a guy could be in a world with six billion hungry zombies hanging around. Or how empty a life of just surviving could be.Meeting survivors in Brian's world is dangerous. Living with survivors is almost suicidal. Zombies like large groups of people: the more, the merrier. Caring about people in Brian's world is insane. How often can someone lose every person they've ever known or loved before they just quit trying? When he hooks up with a new group of survivors, they all find a way to...well...survive together. After so many years, surviving is easy part. The real challenge: can they find a reason to live? To love? Can they find a reason to hope? Can they remember how to laugh when so much of the world is dark and despairing? Brian has survived for ten years beyond the end of the world, but he’s not sure why. Diabolique is a mashup up of horror fiction, bending the boundaries of indie horror with disturbing, grotesque features that leaves you only wanting more when it’s over. Take a devouring transformation, masked power, deranged surgeons, punk noir killers, supernatural and a touch of BDSM, toss it into your rib cage beside your heart and squeeze tightly. You’ll begin to perceive, partake and savor the stories within and gasp after each page. The debut collection from Scottish writer John Paul Fitch is a horrifying mix of cosmic measures, body horror and transgression fiction. Freddy Luccio was once a well respected artist in Hollywood. Whether it be for storyboards, posters, character designs, or logos, studios would often call on Freddy. But before long his luck changed. Lost, broke, and with nowhere else to go, he has no choice but to move back to his home town of Everett Falls, New York, to live with his aunt. Now in his late twenties, he is depressed and lonely and by all accounts, a failure. But he just might be the only person who can stop a brutal murderer. Valerie just arrived at Doctor’s hidden utopia for what was supposed to be a weekend of wellness.

A weekend of eating fruits straight from the farm. Of screaming hula hoop yoga and dynamic meditation to expel toxins Valerie knew were holding her back. A retreat where she’d attain the energy needed to return home and set new personal records at the gym. To land her dream job.

And of course, she’d finally have an appointment with Doctor, the naturopathic yogi guru who discovered the healing powers of drinking blood. He’d cured cancer. Leaky gut. Hashimoto’s thyroid and more.

But it turns out the blood-drinking wellness craze that swept the coasts isn’t too popular in rural Pennsylvania.

Get ready for sex, yoga, and blood.

Lots of Blood. Take a terrifying tour of the US in Scares Across America Vol 1. From women in white, to carnivorous clouds, and everything in between, this first volume of modern twists on local lore will have you itching to load up the car for your next road trip. Don’t forget to stop and try the local cuisine! Just don’t ask about the secret recipe…

A hair-obsessed serial killer…
A flesh-eating motorway pileup…
A grotesque holiday illness…

Forget what you think you know about the human body. In Rob Ulitski’s debut short story collection, get ready for a thrilling, gut-churning ride through death, disease and destruction.

Boasting thirteen unique stories and a whole host of brutal bodily afflictions, ‘Fleshed Out’ explores the fragility of flesh and blood, and the gruesome ways our bodies can twist, contort and transform into our worst nightmares. This 21-page collection of short horror and speculative stories is composed of seven 100-word drabbles, and four extremely short stories. Some stories within may include sexually explicate depictions, unwarranted sexual advances, death, disfigurement, and mental health. Or Scenes that some may find offensive.

If you post a photo of you holding up Composite, you will be entered in my Halloween raffle to the new illustration
