This topic from Long and Short Reviews was a tough one, because I haven't read or watched much sci-fi lately, so I had to rack my brains for this.
I've watched a lot of Star Trek in the past, so I do love the idea of interstellar and intergalactic travel as well as planetary colonisation. I wrote a story many years ago (which, thank goodness, disappeared when I got rid of my old computer) which took place in a computer game training academy on another planet, so the idea of a futuristic world with planet-hopping ships appeals to me.
However, I'm going to say the one thing I wish existed was from Douglas Adams - the Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster. A cocktail that would truly knock your socks off.
And yes, I am aware that versions of it exist - I've tried a few and they were horrible.
So what would you like to be real from sci-fi?
