Signal - The Movie Cold Case Investigation Unit
Just finished watching "Signal - The Movie Cold Case Investigation Unit" released by SHOUT! Studios.
A continuation of the highly popular same-named Japanese television series, "Signal," which in turn is based on the American movie "Frequency," Lt. Kento Saegusa is trying to connect the odd pieces of the assignation of a government minister when his non-working and out-dated police radio comes back to life, bringing him into contact once more with his friend and partner Sgt. Takeshi Oyama, who is eleven years in the past.
Based on the evidence both have, it seems that a long thought terrorist group that was eradicated had at least one survivor who is working with the government and police for motives unknown, and when Saegusa is set up to be the fall guy, he must go on the run and try to change not only the past, but his future as well.
And there is the on-going mystery of Oyama's fate. What happened to him? Saegusa is able to save him and the future does change, but has it? "Signal" suggests that time is fluid and can snap back into place if a course correction is needed to preserve the timeline.
I suspect that this movie is a wrap-up of the original television series - which became widely popular and gained a cult following in Japan for it's use of real-world crimes and events.
Highly Recommended!
