Like magnets, these eagles come, to the sounds and smells and sights of summer haying, where meals wait beneath the crop. Earlier this summer, I snapped a few pics of them for the summer edition of God and Nature Magazine.

While rain delayed the hay cutting, voles proliferated and eaglets grew. Then, when baling cleared
the field, parent birds brought their youngsters, who watched and imitated their elder mentors.
Ten baldies in all, hunting rodents—the younger ones panting from the day’s heat and effort.
