In A Groove

I think I'm starting to get into a groove here with both writing, working and reviewing. Somehow I found the energy to juggle all of them while pretending to have this wild and crazy life. I wish I could claim it's been enlightening, but really it's just a lot of Pepsi. My heart really won't like this in 30 years but, at that point, my liver should be hating me more, and since they can replace all of the above (except for those 30 years, that is…) I'm not too concerned.

So… books received...

Marjorie Friday Baldwin Hi Jason, know who this is? :)

Since you're reviewing others' books, would you like to read/review one more? I'm offering to comp copies of the eARC of Conditioned Response which releases today--PTB notwithstanding. Got the final notes from my editor around 3am ET/USA and am scurrying to implement those today then "launch" before midnight tonight. The book started selling copies of the UNPROOFED GALLEY VERSION off Smashwords last week so I'm not too worried. I mean, I have yet to even start promoting it and it's already made more in one week than it cost me to edit since last July.

Conditioned Response (Phoenician, #2) by Marjorie F. Baldwin is a classic SciFi (Thriller/Mystery) with Huxley-ian eugenics a la Brave New World and Heinlein-ian philosophies on "citizenship and service" a la Starship Troopers. The Artifical Person and "here and now" that is neither here nor now all come from my (pen)namesake, Heinlein's Friday. The one thing I did that none of those guys did is I have a LOT of sex, sexual tension and a bit of a romance going on--but the Hero dies* so it's not a romance novel. It's just an emotional rollercoaster of a book. I think I hit on every major emotion and evoked it in my readers. That was my goal anyway.

*That's not a spoiler; if you can't tell the Hero dies back in Ch 1, you weren't paying attention. You'll just spend the entire book waiting for it to happen and then choke, cringe and cry when it does. You're welcome.

Let me know if you want a comp copy. My offer's good until April 30th and like I said, I'm just asking for 3 reviews to be posted by May 20th (upload a copy/paste of one review to 3 sites) Smashwords should have the book propagated through and book page links available by April 30th (I hope!)

Just email me (marjoriefbaldwin at gmail) and tell me (a) which format you prefer (only offering 2: Mobi/Kindle or ePub/everyone else), (b) to what address you want it mailed (if not the one from which you write me) and if you want it mailed directly to your Kindle device (which several have found very convenient already) just add marjoriefbaldwin...to your approved senders list and tell me the "mailto" name of your Kindle account (then delete me from the list after you get the book)

Thanks, Jason!
