With all the drama at #UFC279, it’s easy to lost sight of the fact that there’s a slew of potentially competitive fights on tap tonight. Ironically, one could argue the card improved with the changes, although the bottom line is a bad look for the biggest league in combat sports.

The #MainEvent is a tough one to call, even for oddsmakers, who have this set to be close. I think both guys lack the ability to finish the other, but worry #NateDiaz didn’t prepare, if he is to be believed. Ferguson wouldn’t ever do that, but also haven’t seen him be competitive for quite awhile. Diaz by decision. The decision by #KevinHolland’s team to take the #Chimiev fight is suspect. He’s got a history of short notice fights against #wrestlers with poor results.

I took a few upsets with Anheliger, Barnett, Chaisson, Jingliang, and Diaz. Barnett is me blatantly going with heart instead of smarts, but think he can get it done. If I were placing bets, I’d take Holland, as Chmiev has seemed completely unfocused all week. Tonight will be a very telling night for him. There are rumblings the #UFC was already worried about him before this week, and he’s most certainly on their radar right now. After two straight weeks of 6-6, I stand at 217-128 for the year.
