I wouldn’t be surprised if the library of Japanese Emperor Emeritus Akihito has at least one rare Filipiniana book—-a very obscure 1924 monograph on Philippine Goby fish. The retired emperor is a marine biologist who is a recognised expert on goby fish. I came across this book recently while browsing the University of San Carlos Library in Cebu. Text was too technical but i enjoyed the colored illustrations:)
