Delay of second series.
Alright, so this week has been interesting as I have started to get back to work after a week off visiting family. One thing is for sure, once I take time off, it is hard to get back into the swing of things, so to speak. Though I feel that I will be back into the rhythm where I need to be after a few more days of working at it. That said, the break allowed me to look at a lot of the ways I have been doing things and question if it is efficient, or if I need to change something. At the top of this list is the method I was using to write multiple stories at the same time. I was doing this by spending my day focused on Eternal Dominion and nights on the other story. After editing the first book of that story, I can say that while the story was great, the number of things I needed to fix was too great as what normally takes 16 to 20 hours, took well over 40 hours. This is an amount of work that I cannot sustain, especially as for me the first edit is the single part of my process that I find to truly feel like is hard work and have to force myself to do.
It is after considering all of this that I have come to two decisions:
First, I will be changing how I do my writing for each series, with me spending the first part of the month focused only on writing Eternal Dominion and once I am done with what is needed, I will work on another story for the rest of the month. This will allow me to not have to constantly jump from one to the other and allow me to be smoother in my writing process (at least I hope).
Second, I am pushing back my plans to release my second series until at least spring of 2023 as once I drop the first book, I need to be ready to commit to either a book every other month, or every three months and I feel like there are too many unknowns still. With that I will be holding back on releasing a preview for the new series until I have a better idea of when it will be coming out.
I hope that you all can understand why I made these decisions as for me being able to consistently deliver my stories on a regular schedule is intrinsic to my brand. For me, it is important that you my readers can trust that when I start to publish a story, you can count on me to always release another volume in that story in a predictable manner. It is why Eternal Dominion will take priority as I have committed to releasing it every month until it reaches its conclusion.
Thanks,
Bern.
