The Trouble with Technology
I was very excited to start a blog last weekend. I decided to do one both in Goodreads and on my author website: barbaraeberhardauthor.com.
However, when I went to add another entry in my website blog, the Go Daddy login required me to do the 2FA. And because my husband and I got new phones, the 2FA app for my Go Daddy account was no longer synched. Now, my husband is a techie, and he understands much more about these things than I do. But apparently, even though it was the same number on my phone and the same Go Daddy account, there was some kind of cookie or something on my old phone that didn't get transferred to my new phone. Don't even get me started on how confusing that is!
Anyway, after trying for a while to get the two apps to talk to each other, we finally gave up. And I sent Go Daddy a request to turn off the 2FA so I could redo the whole sync of phone and Go Daddy website app.
A week later, I still hadn't heard from Go Daddy - very annoying. So I tried the Chat on the Go Daddy website. Not helpful in the slightest. Then I tried texting with a CSR. It took five minutes for the text to respond and another three or four minutes between each text. Clearly, I was not the only person with whom the person was texting. At the same time, I called the number the Chat had given me. There, I spoke to an actual human being. He asked me to verify the security info for my account, which is fine and should be done. Then he sent me a code for me to verify my account. All good. And then he was able to remove the 2FA so I could again make changes to my website.
Including this blog. Whew.
