The Hanger On Drops In
Just finished reading "The Hanger On Drops In" by Birke Duncan, published independently.
Now as frequent readers of my reviews here on Facebook, Goodreads, and other social media platforms may recall, I am always forthcoming when I am reviewing the works of friends. Although Birke and I have never met in person, we are friends and Birke is one of my minions - actually Birke is #3 in my minion corps. Prior to meeting Birke on Facebook, I enjoyed and reviewed his original radio dramas that were available on CD through ZBS Productions. Oh yes, Birke did send me a review copy.
"The Hanger On Drops In" is a whimsical take on the screwball department store drama/comedies of the 1930s with a slightly modern twist. It was originally published in "The Saga of Krait Hally & Other Strange Tales" back in 2014.
James Western is the narrator of this mystery which centers around how and why Rolly Harris tumbled off the fourth floor railing and onto the ground floor of the Bruce Department Store. As James flashes back to the events leading up to Rolly's plunge, events start to unfurl and motivations may reveal plots and counter-plots, wheels-upon-wheels, leading up to a shocking conclusion.
