I'm using the word Gay here because as I recall from personal experience AIDS mostly affected gay men, at least here in the US. Maybe in the UK. I'm not sure about that. But I am sure about what happened in the US. Yes, a few straight people got it through transfusions and sex, but it was mostly concentrated on gay men and it wasn't an LGBTQIA "thing."
