Botanic Gardens in Southport

 

Southport's Botanic Gardens has been a popular attraction for many years. 

As a teenager and later young man in my twenties, I had many happy days in this park when working with Southport Tree Gang in the 1970s.

Like the rest of the borough,  the park was affected back then with some trees succumbing to Dutch Elm Disease and had to be felled.

The popular attraction has received sterling support from hard-working volunteers, yet clearly needs more funding pumping in.
