The imagery of the Four of Wands is fairly straightforward. It shows a party or celebration happening. The figures on the card are dancing, full of mirth. The Four of Wands is all about connecting with others for no other reason than to have laughter, humour, and fun. The Four of Wands also reminds you to celebrate your rites of passage. It is important to mark even small achievements and accomplishments with a moment set aside as special, to experience the joy of what you are manifesting.

When is the last time you had fun for no reason? Do you need to "lighten up?" Do you think you can't enjoy yourself because there are twenty-million unfinished things to do? Do you accomplish one thing, then race to the next, without acknowledging what you just achieved for yourself?

The Four of Wands appears to remind us that having occasional fun isn't something to feel guilty about. It is necessary to remain a balanced human being! Sometimes there is just no substitute for sipping a cool glass of wine outdoors on a balmy June evening with someone whose company you enjoy. Nothing beats a hot cup of cocoa and a good book when it’s cold outside. There will always be a long list of unfinished things to do. Whether you take a break or not, they'll still be waiting for you..... So why not return to your tasks in a good mood? Celebrate an accomplishment you made, or a goal you reached. Treat yourself. Celebrate that you went to the gym today. You could even just celebrate because it's another day, and you're alive! Life isn't just about flitting from one busy task to the other. It's also about occasionally stopping yourself, and just enjoying the present. Look outside at how pretty the light dances off of the green leaves.

The Four of Wands doesn't necessarily mean you have to go out and party. It's a little less intense than that. Sometimes it just reminds us to connect with people that matter to us. Send some light hearted messages. Write a sweet card. Remind yourself of the really exceptional people in your life, and show them how grateful you are that they exist. Brighten their day if things have been getting heavy for them. Tell a funny story. The best people in our lives are gifts that make our journey through the hills and valleys so much more pleasant.

Today, the Four of Wands gives you a clear message: “Have some fun!”

When the Four of Wands appears reversed it indicates that something may be getting in the way to giving yourself over to joy. It also warns that "the thing" that is getting in the way may be your ego's need for validation. Look at the dancing people on the card. They are fully joyful. They aren't listening to their wounded egos telling them that they look "stupid" when they dance. They don't care about the tasks that must be done tomorrow. Worrying about how they look to others doesn't prevent them from surrendering to revelry. The party-goers on this card are so engaged with celebrating the joyous moment, that they don't have time for internal (or external) buzz-kills.

Today, kick your addiction to perfectionism. No moment is "perfect." There is always work to do, self improvements to be made, and things to achieve. However, this does not mean that you have to be miserable until you attain your goals. Give yourself over to joy today. Really taste your food you are eating. Savor the sweet air you breathe. Enjoy the company you keep. Laugh often. Today, give your ego a break, and give yourself the gift of joy.

Its time to kick your addiction to worry.

*Four of Wands (Reversed) in a Love Reading

New Relationship

This card can signify a fair-weather friendship or relationship. When times are good, all goes well. There is laughter, joy, and fun. However, when a challenge arises, one partner lacks the maturity to face the challenge. This can lead to confusion since the connection feels so vibrant when all is going well. This card can also represent a person who struggles with escapism.

Long Term Partnership

The Four of Wands reversed can indicate a major difference of maturity levels between two people. One partner may act irresponsibly while the other remains the adult in the room. This card can also signify a toxic social environment that is negatively impacting one or both partners.

Seeking Romance

The Four of Wands reversed can warn you of the current company you are keeping. Do the people you socialize with make you feel drained, depleted, or depressed after your encounters? It’s time to gravitate toward an environment that feels more supportive. Letting go of toxic people is never a mistake.
