Most Things In Life Are Fixable

I have a line I tell to clients a lot when they are starting out on a new project, new software, new venture…it’s fixable.
And as I look at life, there are some things that are not fixable. But most things are.
A poor financial decision may cause some headaches, but most of the time it doesn’t cause death. You may lose some money, but thankfully, money is something you can make more of in the future.
You can try to save more, invest smarter, learn from bad decisions…financial issues are fixable. Financial issues are not an end all issue. It’s a fixable issue.
If you are fearful in trying something new, really, what harm will it do? Most new things will not end in death. It may end in a little humiliation, a little hard times, a little elbow grease. But new doesn’t usually end in deathly consequences.
You may have an idea to try something new. You may have a goal you want to achieve. A dream you want to try. An plan you want to shoot for. At the end of the day if you fail, what real harm will you do?
If you fail, your loved ones will be there to pick you up. If you fall your friends will be there to encourage you to try again. If you plummet your circle around you will hopefully be there to show you that it is okay.
You may not have achieved what you wanted to achieve…but it didn’t kill you. You may have failed, but once again, it is fixable.
Trying new things is scary. I understand that. When I train a new client on a computer program that will help them, I always see the look of apprehension on their face. But I always assure them, “If you mess up, it is okay. It is fixable.”
People are afraid of making mistakes. But mistakes are inevitable when you are doing new things. No one is ever perfect at everything on their first try.
So why do we stress ourselves out thinking we have to achieve perfection on all our first tries?
In my line of work there are some things that are not easily fixable. If someone sells a property for a large profit and if they wait until tax time to come up with a tax savings solution, the time could have passed for a good tax savings idea. But there are still some possible chances such as finding retirement accounts. But then again sometimes it is too late and the solution is paying tax.
But once again as I said before. You may face a financial crisis but you can most likely earn more money in your future. A large tax bill will not cause you to face death. It may cause you to think you’re going to die, but it really isn’t. It once again is fixable.
I think we all need to take a step back from ourselves and really evaluate our lives and ask yourself some hard questions.
1. Have I been given a death sentence that is beyond my control?
2. Have I been told by medical professionals that there is nothing to do, but wait for death?
3. Am I about to make a decision that could lead me to a deathly situation such as rock climbing without any harnesses or safety apparatus?
Now ask yourself the questions you faced today and you may notice these were not life and death questions but fixable ones.
Life is too precious for us to take it for granted.
Ginny Owens sings, “There is nothing more dangerous than playing it safe.”
So, maybe it is time to start living differently. Living with the notion that most things in life are fixable.
Because it really is. Most things in life are always fixable.
So start living your life by taking chances you were afraid to say last year. A regretful life is an unfulfilled life.
It’s time to fill it.
You can fill it with what ifs or you can fill it with wins or loses. At least if you lose you can try to fix it so you could win the next time you try it.
God doesn’t want us to live our lives with fear. He wants us to live with confidence. Confidence that He is able to take our errors, flaws, hiccups, missteps and turn them into something beautiful.
We are all beautifully fixable.
Peace
