Published in 2011. Thriller. Scot Harvath begins his next mission in Sweden. His last one in Yemen was a complete disaster, so he wants to avoid another misstep. He’s successfully sent an undercover agent into a terrorist cell to gather information. The plan is to extract him after a few days, but that plan goes awry as well. The only way this could happen two times in a row is if someone is leaking information to the terrorists. But who?
Another plot line develops in Hollywood when Larry Salomon, a top film producer, is attacked in his home. He’s saved by his friend, Luke Ralston, who was a former Navy SEAL, and now works as a movie consultant. Some Russian Spetznaz soldiers are killed in the process as well as two filmmakers working with Larry on a new project. Ralston gets his friend to safety, but begins the task of finding out who sent these soldiers in.
The two plots seem very dissimilar in the beginning, but by the end, they are intertwined. I enjoyed reading this book—the plot(s) move fast and kept me interested. The ending tied up all the loose ends, maybe a little to neatly. The story was based on a real strategy for the destruction of America called Unrestricted Warfare. This shows how it could work and it’s not good for us
