The Page of Cups symbolizes the creative inner-child. This is the part of you that can still be amazed with wonder and curiosity at the world around you. Everybody has creative energy, and it is expressed differently by each individual. The Page of Cups invites you to play, be inspired, make something beautiful, bring more color into your world, and create joyful memories with others.
Oh, and he also likes to pull ”impy” pranks once in a while...
Do you avoid your creativity because in your mind you are “no artist?” Do you remember the joy of being creative as a child? Do you ever just let loose and allow yourself to play?
If the Page of Cups were 100 years old he would still find time to play. He is the archetype of the creativity children display. He is dressed in pink and blue. Pink is the color of love, harmony, kindness, and the heart. Blue is the color of communication, healing, creativity, and depth. He is a master at communicating his creativity, and directly lightening the hearts of others.
Like many children, he’s taken his pet along with him where he isn’t supposed to. In this case it’s a fish, representing again, depth, and creative wisdom, but also luck. The water lilies on his tunic shows that he blossoms in the realm of feelings and emotions. He is very sensitive, but often is having too much of a good time to sit about moping.
Your inner creative child wants some attention! It wants to play! If you give in, I promise you’ll have fun. Children have a trust for accepting the magic of “making stuff.” They love to draw pictures, paint Easter eggs, and make turkeys out of hand tracings. They never say, “Well I’m sorry I can’t paint today, because I am terrible at it, and I am not a professional artist.” They dive right in because it’s fun! It also keeps them too busy to think of scary things like sharks, bogymen, and monsters waiting in the closet (keeping your creative mind occupied gives an advantage of not imagining frightening things).
Today turn off your inner critic who always whispers “should do this,” in your ear and do something artistic or creative just for the joy of it. Make your house more vibrant and colorful. Do some crafts, make something boring-fun, spend some time teasing a big baby (especially a grown up one)!
Embrace fun, craftiness, foolery, and beauty, and you’ll see the day went by without dwelling on monsters.
When the Page of Cups appears reversed he indicates that you could be experiencing a time where your creativity feels blocked. Even the greatest artists experience lulls in their creative brilliance. If you've been feeling a lack of motivation to create, or to make your environment more enjoyable it's time to change up the energy. When creativity is blocked, sometimes you just have to feel a bit more in life. Once your creativity becomes unleashed it will take on an energy and momentum all its own.
Creativity often flows when you are engaged with your feelings (good or bad). Make time to listen to heart, and let it have a say. Your feelings will hijack your whole project until they are felt and honestly heard. Also, take a break from being an overly-productive grown-up. Today, it's time to let your inner child loose. Take a holiday from rules, should's and shouldn'ts. Release any tension or pressure you feel about needing to be productive. Creativity needs to flow naturally like water. You can’t kick at the stream and expect it to change course. You must accept where you are and surrender to its flow. Have fun playing with your own particular brand of expression. Lighten up a lot, and allow yourself the freedom to explore what you enjoy most. Draw, paint, sing, goof around...live! Have fun today, your creative (and rational) mind will thank your for it. Today, open your heart center and stop overthinking.
Literalism is a creative buzz-kill. Engage with your true feelings.
*Page of Cups (Reversed) in a Love Reading
New Relationship
The Page of Cups reversed can symbolize a person who is excessively immature. He (or she) will likely retreat to an inner world of dreams rather than confront reality. This card can represent and individual who needs a parent more than a partner. This card can also signify uneven levels of maturity between two people.
Long Term Partnership
The Page of Cups reversed can represent blocked communication or emotional intimacy in your relationship. The partnership may have temporarily lost its sense of magic. It may be time to detach from the drudging, daily grind. Engage in activities that brought you both joy in the past. Allot time for playfulness, laughter, and relaxation.
Seeking Romance
If you are single, the Page of Cups reversed can represent a time when you feel excessively sensitive. Your heart may be healing. Be selective about who has access to your vulnerable heart. This card can also advise you to seek more mature relationships and turn away from a person who is acting like a child.
