On the shores of the Tyrrhenian Sea, Thomas de Gendt (Lotto-Sudal) felt most comfortable. The Belgian stood out among a gap of 21 riders who crashed at the start of the race. Guillaume Martin, who was present in the breakaway, made a jump in the general classification, taking 4th place.
